“I have the best possible impression for the online course of Prof.
Alexander Rosenthal with the title ‘’Classical Philosophy and the
Virtues’’. Through his “taped” (canned) lectures, the lesson became
interesting, amusing and accessible to anyone interested in the
theories on virtues and the way of their accession. With certain
examples, the listener-student was in the position to make parallelism
and coidentity of these theories to various common experiences and so
to discover their practical ‘facing’. Personally, I managed to enrich

“Από το διαδικτυακό μάθημα του κυρίου καθηγητή Alexander Rosenthal με τίτλο ‘’Classical Philosophy and the Virtues’’ αποκόμισα τις καλύτερες των εντυπώσεων. Μέσω των ηχογραφημένων από τον ίδιο διαλέξεων, το μάθημα καθίστατο ενδιαφέρον, διασκεδαστικό και προσιτό σε οποιονδήποτε ενδιαφερόμενο για τις θεωρίες των αρετών και τον τρόπο απόκτησής τους. Μέσω συγκεκριμένων παραδειγμάτων, ο ακροατής-μαθητής ήταν σε θέση να κάνει παραλληλισμό και ταύτιση των θεωριών με διάφορα βιώματά από την καθημερινότητα και έτσι να ανακαλύπτει το πρακτικό τους αντίκρισμα. ““It was an experience that was proposed from (Dr.) Papadopoulou
Ioanna, professor at the Department of Greek. Having attended her
lectures and (therefore knowing) the way she lectures, an immediate
interested in the courses of (Dr) Alexander Rosenthat was raised. He
communicates straightforward (= he teaches in a plain and
comprehensive way), explains and helps fast and totally. Though in his
lectures I didn’t have in front of me the texts, the explanation is so
‘clean’ and may be followed by questions. One can have an on-line
discussion on these questions, which leads to a further comprehension
of the play. (Dr) Alexander Rosenthal doesn’t put any pressure on the
time of the completion of the seminars and is always there for any
query. What surprised me is that he no one is graded with numbers but
with comments, something that becomes more effective/positive. I would
be happy to participate in further seminars. The prices are very low

“Speech is power : speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel”, said R.W.Emerson. Studying classics I came to the same conclusion and that was the reason I participated in the online courses with Alexander Rosenthal-Pubul about Rhetoric. My communication with Dr Rosenthal was frequent and essential and I would like to stress that he was very polite and always ready to help me. Furthermore, the online platform that we used for the courses was organized perfectly and easy to use, and the lectures were comprehensible. In conclusion, it was a unique experience for me, because I had never had the chance to attend a course in English and basically I notice that, after the class of Rhetoric, I became more attentive in matters related to speech/logos.”

Έχοντας παρακολουθήσει τα σεμινάρια, τα οποία έγιναν εξ αποστάσεως
μέσω του Ινστιτούτου Πετράρχη, έχω να δηλώσω ότι αποκόμισα πολλές
χρήσιμες πληροφορίες για την ρητορική. Η τέχνη της ρητορικής είναι
πάρα πολύ σημαντική και ο βασικός σκοπός της ήταν η πειθώ μέσω τριών
πολύ βασικών στοιχείων: λόγος, πάθος και ήθος. Ο κύριος Alexander
Rosenthal , καθώς και οι άλλοι καθηγητές που συμμετείχαν στα
σεμινάρια, ήταν άψογοι, καθώς μέσα από απλά αγγλικά, με δομημένο λόγο
και πληθώρα παραδειγμάτων μας εξήγησαν και μας βοήθησαν να
κατανοήσουμε την σημασία της τέχνης αυτής που υπάρχει ήδη από τον
αρχαίο ελληνικό πολιτισμό και έχει φτάσει μέχρι τις μέρες μας. Είμαι

Having attended the seminars, that took place with the method of
distance learning through the Petrarch Institute, I would like to
state that I have gained a lot of useful pieces of information on
Rhetoric. The art of rhetoric is very important (for everyday life)
and its main goal was the persuasion through three essential ‘tools’:
logos, pathos, and ethos. Dr. Rosenthal and the other tutors of the
seminars were perfect since with remarkable easy to understand
English, using a well-structured manner of speaking and an abundance
of examples, explained us and helped us to comprehend the importance
of this art that already existed in ancient Greek civilization and is
still applied in our days. I am very satisfied with the seminars and I
will surely like to participate in another similar seminar in the
future.
